Design Tips for Cosmetic Packaging

Cosmetics are always fun to sell, but you want to make good branding and packaging that ambassadors want to showcase. It’s a lucrative industry, and there are tons of competitive brands that spend millions just to market, so you want to make sure that your company stands out. Here, we’ll discuss what you can do to get others to buy the products, and how to market your cosmetic packaging so that people want to purchase it.

Go Simple

A lot of people are more interested in simple designs. People remember items by color first, then the shape, and then the simple, and finally the words. You want to make sur that the packaging is simple, minimalist, and doesn’t get super detail-oriented, as that’ll turn away the buyers, and it does create buyer confusion in a lot of cases. Go minimal whenever you can so you’re not creating cluttered packaging, on already cluttered shelves.

Make it Smell or laminate It

Coated packaging that is laminated is really great for getting someone’s attention. It’s aesthetically pleasing, and it can boost the sales by up to 80% in lots of cases. Plus, people like stuff that smells, so making it smell nice, or even making it matte or glossy will definitely create more appeal.

Use Foil Stamping

Foil stamping, especially silver and gold ones, typically are very appealing, and they can look stunning on lots of products. Foil stamping is also pretty cheap, and it does create some really eye-catching designs when it’s on the shelf with other items.

Make It Haptic

Haptic appeal is a major part of the decision of a buyer. This creates dimensionality, complexity of the visuals, and it can highlight a lot of aspects of branding too. If you want your packaging to really shine, consider all of this, as it can really boos the names of the brand.

Use Artwork

The story of a brand is what makes you different from the rest. You want to make sure that you create a story for your brand that lets others connect with you, and also helps them better understand the advocacy and the visions. This is something that a lot of people like, and making it a product that others can use, regardless of ther gender, and empowers them, will help boost the individuality of the product, and how people view it.

Logo Focus

A lot of people like to do this with the minimalist design, and it offers a nice presentation without making the details super obnoxious. The usual packaging design does work with this, since it lets the people know about the products without needing to get people to purchase them.

Having the logo front and center is a great way to make it look sleek, and luxurious, without being super annoying in the process. Plus, you don’t have to make it super detailed. Just some typography that’s simple or creative spacing does work for a lot of people.

Create Environmentally-Friendly Packaging

Finally, you should make sure that you create packaging that’s environmentally friendly and sustainable.  It’s something that lets you conserve the resources in a natural sense, minimizing the paper and waste, and also creating packaging that can be used once again, repurposed for other items, or in some cases, lets you recycle it.

Simple kraft boxes or tuck end boxes that have a nice little coating is great since you can reuse it, and lots of people like this for their cosmetics. If you can make it innovative, consider it, since it lets you stand out, and boosts the brand’s awareness as well.
