Subtlety

Logo-free Packaging

We all know about the importance of branding and logos, along with box designs. But a new minimalism trend does the opposite of this. This is “invisible branding” and it’s exactly what you think it is. Logo-free packaging might not be what you expect, but it offers a unique appeal for those in luxury, sustainability, and customer-driven sorts of designs. Certain areas do like this.

Sometimes, a logo can be a little bit jarring, and they want something that’s a bit more subtle.   The materials and packaging do the talking, rather than just the normal branding. We’ll go over here whether or not invisible branding is right for you, and the elements of such.

Relying on Other design Elements

When we think of packaging, we think of the materials, an elaborate design, and shapes that will stand out. The logo is usually right there in the middle.

Well here’s some food for thought: when you brand like that, you’re not actually standing out.

You see it all the time. People will do this, and then they become one of many on store shelves.   Sometimes, the way to stand out is to be different, without the aid of a logo.

This involves using materials that are high-quality. Customers will see that your box feels different, or it’s sturdier than others. This is definitely something that will stick around.

A more subtle design with the name rather than a logo plastered there, is very common.  Subtlety is a common one, because customers like to have that, rather than it in their face.

Sometimes as well, the shapes off the packaging play a part. For instance, using a box made in a circular or star shape, rather than a regular box, will serve as an alternative to the regular logos and branding.

Focusing on the Product and the Packaging surrounding it as the Branding statement

This is a complex one, because for the longest time, we’ve used a logo for this. but, having your name there, and the interior presentation, along with the packaging, plays a part.

For instance, some makeup brands will use a bland box with the name of it, but instead, you see a bottle that’s in a different, unique shape, or even colors that are different from the norm.

This can be a challenge, because you want to intimately connect the product with the packaging and use it as a different means to show off the brand.

Logos and slogans have been used for a long time, but sometimes, just having the product packaged nicely, or maybe with a box that’s different, might be a little bit better for the item inside.

The Benefits and Problems with This—is it right for you?

This is something you will need to ask yourself.

It does require some creativity. That’s because you need to create exclusivity and intrigue through the packaging. You’re not just out there vomiting who you are on the product packaging, but instead doing it in a more subtle manner.

This can, however, make you stand out. customers do like this because it’s not as obnoxious, and also contributes to sustainability initiatives.

However, it does require the precarious balance between the brand identity and the slogans and logos that were used before. The biggest downside is that you gotta be creative, and it might end up costing more.

If you want to use this, go for it. It might take some getting used to, but sometimes, daring to be different can make a brand really shine, so don’t be afraid to consider this option as well.
